Students who are the citizens of a member state of the European Union or the member of European Free Trade Association, EFTA

are entitled to free access to healthcare services provided by health service units, which have concluded agreements for the provision of healthcare with the National Health Fund (NFZ), based on the European Health Insurance Card (EKUZ) or – in a special situation, if they don’t have the right to health insurance in the country of residence – they are being reported for insuring by the WIT according to the rules applicable to Polish students.

Students who are not the citizens of a member state of the European Union and who are recognized as a person of Polish origin in accordance with the regulations on repatriation pursuant to consul's decision

can be insured at their own expense by signing the agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ) and claim reimbursement for covering the insurance costs. The WIT will pay health insurance contributions for such persons, provided that it receives from them the following documents:

  1. the notification in written form about signing an agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ) (within 7 days of signing it) with the copy of the signed agreement
  2. the notification of recognition as a person of Polish origin issued by the Polish consul in the country of residence

Students who hold the Polish Card (in Polish called - Karta Polaka)

can apply for health insurance at the WIT according to the rules applicable to Polish students.

4. Studenci niebędący obywatelami państwa członkowskiego Unii Europejskiej lub państwa członkowskiego Europejskiego Porozumienia o Wolnym Handlu

Students who are neither citizens of a member state of the European Union nor the member state of the European Free Trade Association, EFTA.

can be insured at their own expense, signing the agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ).

The insurance agreement is concluded on the basis of:

  1. student’s request submitted in written form to the National Health Fund (NFZ)
  2. a letter or certificate confirming his/her enrolment, that can be received from the Dean’s office of the Faculty
  3. the student passport

A student who has signed the agreement and pays his health insurance contributions on-time, is entitled to full access to healthcare services on the territory of Poland in medical units which has signed the contract with the National Health Fund (NFZ).

For foreign students who are not the citizens of the EU countries the cost of contribution nowadays is 46,80 Polish zlotys per month.

Within 7 days of signing the agreement with the National Health Fund (NFZ), a student is obliged to register it in the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), by submitting the registration form ZUS ZZA.

The contribution to health insurance under the agreement shall be paid into the bank account specified by the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), not later than the 15th of each month.
